1-13-11 BREAKING NEWS Maliki appoints Falih al-Fayadh National Security Advisor

Highlights/Thoughts
1. It was astutely pointed out to me that it is funny how Maliki appoints someone to the security position just as Biden gets there. Look at this article where it is said Biden will intervene directly in the security file.
2. It is apparent Biden already did intervene since Maliki just made the announcement today.  Recall Biden landed yesterday.
3. The security position being filled is important because it is one of the last critical and important positions that must be filled before Iraq can officially announce their government

Baghdad (NINA) – Prime Minister Nuri al-Maliki decided to appoint National Alliance’s official, Falih al-Fayadh, National Security Advisor.

Source at the NA told NINA on Tuesday, Jan. 11, “Maliki has decided to appoint Legislator from the National Reform Trend, Falih al-Fayadh National Security Advisor.”

He added, “This post will has a big role appointing security ministers and top security officials.”

The source pointed out, “The country is in need for a number of security agencies, when American forces withdraw, to handle Iraq’s security.”

The post was first held by NA official, Mowafaq al-Rubae, until April 2009 and was replaced by Safa’ al-Sheikh.

It is note worthy that Safa al-Sheikh is the National Reform Trends’s second important official after Ibrahim al-Jafari. / End.
