1. Ad Melkert met with a permanent representative of Iraq in Geneva on 2/10
2. Maliki will meet with Kuwait and discuss issues to resolve outstanding issues between Iraq and Kuwait
3. Melkert expressed optimism that Maliki's upcoming visit to Kuwait would result in decisions of importance and reaching solutions to some outstanding issues, including waterways, land borders, and oil investments in common
4. The Executive Director of the UN Compensation Commission said he sees progress and a clear desire of both Iraq and Kuwait during the past few months to resolve remaining issues
5. The permanent representative stressed that Iraq is working continuously on the solution to the outstanding problems with Kuwait
6. He is expecting both sides to reach a satisfactory agreement for both sides
